Television presenter and BBC Radio 1 show host

Edith Bowman is on Radio 1 07.00-10.00 Saturdays and Sundays. She hails from Anstruther, Scotland and worked at her parent’s hotel, before going to college and then studying for a degree at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret College. For the following two years Edith worked in local radio as both a producer and presenter.

Having sent her show reel to MTV she was immediately signed up, to work on MTV’s Daily Edition as a newshound which led to her co-presenting MTV’s Hitlist UK with another, then unknown, presenter Cat Deeley. Capital FM subsequently signed the pair up to present Cat and Edith’s Hit Music Sunday.

In 2003 she joined Radio 1 to co-host the Colin and Edith show with Colin Murray and from 2006 Edith flew solo with her weekday Edith Bowman Show 1pm – 4 pm.

Edith’s television presenting roles have included RI:SE (C4), Top Of The Pops (BBC1), Rough Guide To The World (BBC2), New Kings Of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and 4 Music Specials (C4).

She even won Fame Academy (BBC) in 2005! 2010 has seen her hosting Bafta’s own programming for the Film Awards, and also her presenting her own music show The Evo Rooms (C4). She is also annually the host for the BBC’s television coverage of Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and T in the Park Festivals and the Radio 1 One Big Weekends.
